With a 27-year career behind him, Lance Hegerle assumed the role of U.S. Consul General in Tijuana on August 3. After leading the Narcotics Affairs Section in Colombia, the diplomat will head the consular post in the region for the next three years.
A native of Escondido, California, Hegerle is intimately familiar with the Tijuana-San Diego border dynamic. His background includes master's degrees from SDSU and the U.S. Air War College, as well as a solid diplomatic career spanning key missions in Latin America, Afghanistan, and the State Department.
